Support is building this morning for a woman who left her baby strapped to a shopping cart in a parking lot.

Hulk Hogan breaks silence on racist rant

Hulk Hogan asked for forgiveness and opened up about having suicidal thoughts in an interview that aired Monday on "Good Morning America."
It marked the professional wrestler's first sit-down interview since being fired by the WWE in July following the leak of a rant in which he used the N-word.
"I'm not a racist, but I never should have said what I said. It was wrong. I'm embarrassed by it," he told told ABC News' Amy Robach. Hogan added, "People need to realize that you inherit things from your environment. And where I grew up was south Tampa, Port Tampa, and it was a really rough neighborhood, very low income. And all my friends, we greeted each other saying that word."
Hogan, 62, is caught up in a legal battle with Gawker Media after the website posted parts of a secretly recorded sex tape, believed to have been recorded in the mid-200s. The tape also featured Heather Cole, the ex-wife of Hogan's one-time friend and radio show host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem. In it, Hogan is heard making comments -- using the N-word -- about his daughter Brooke Bollea's then-boyfriend.
He's already apologized in a statement, but now in the new interview, Hogan reveals more about what was going on around the time of that recording, admitting he had suicidal thoughts back then.
"I was at the lowest point of my life to the point where I wanted to kill myself," Hogan said. "I was completely broken and destroyed and said, 'What's the easiest way out of this?' I mean, I was lost."
Hogan also had a message for fans: "Oh my gosh, please forgive me. Please forgive me. I'm a nice guy. I'm not the Hulk Hogan that rips his shirt off -- bang, bang, bang -- and slams giants. I'm Terry Bollea. I'm just a normal man."
The WWE has removed Hogan from its website, including its Hall of Fame section.
"I've worked for the WWE for almost 30 years off and on ... and then all of a sudden, everything I've done my whole career and my whole life was like it never happened," he said.

Is marijuana dragging us down

When recreational marijuana was legalized, Washington entered the unknown, triggering questions — and predictions — about what might happen. Would drug dealers hang around the pot shops? Would it bring riffraff into the neighborhood and make shops easy crime targets? Would people abuse the drug? Or smoke and drive, putting others in harm's way?
As is evident by millions of dollars in sales each month at Vancouver's retail stores, people certainly use marijuana. And it has had some consequences on the community, but there's apparently no evidence of major behavioral shifts.
For starters, it's unclear what percentage of the population uses marijuana.
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health for 2012 and 2013 found that 17.58 percent of all Washington adults used marijuana. That was before the retail shops were up and running.

5 Best Practices for Fast Data

As vendors and users testified at last month's In-Memory Computing Summit, the relatively low cost of flash memory is driving databases and apps toward leveraging Fast Data – mobile and sensor cloud data – using systems whose storage is predominantly or even entirely composed of main and flash memory.  One use case cited by a presenter employed one terabyte of main memory and one petabyte of flash.
What is driving this shift in databases and the applications that use them?

Don’t Die With Your Music Still In You

What if you currently live a very
comfortable lifestyle and you have
a lot of assets? How can
you justify running off to do what
truly makes you happy if it might
put all your current assets
at risk?
Here’s my take on this….
To abandon a comfortable lifestyle
that isn’t deeply fulfilling is to
abandon nothing. There’s
nothing of real substance there to
protect. An income, a car, a house,
or a lifestyle are not
worth protecting if the cost of such
protection is your own fulfillment
and happiness. People
who achieve some of the external
trappings of success without
internal fulfillment are only
living an illusion when they tell
themselves they have something of
value to protect. In most
cases the feeling that there ’s
something to protect is just an
excuse used to avoid facing
the real fear — that maybe all this
stuff isn’t really worth anything
compared to what’s being
lost… that maybe I should be living
more boldly and not be so
concerned about what
happens to all my stuff.
I currently have some material
stuff in my life. I have a business,
computers, a car that’s fully
paid for, and my wife and I are
closing escrow on a new home
we’ve bought. But that’s all
just stuff. It doesn’t matter. It
doesn’t have any real value. I’d
gladly give it all up and live in a
shack if that was the price I’d have
to pay to live my mission. I want
my life to have had more
value than just acquiring stuff and
living comfortably. I may die rich,
or I may die broke. But I
won ’t die with my music still in
me.
After all, why are we here? Is it to
acquire stuff, live a comfortable
lifestyle, make our families
as comfortable as possible, and
then die? Whether there ’s an
afterlife or not, one thing is
clear — we can’t take any of that
stuff with us. Our comfortable
lifestyle has no power to
endure.
And here’s the worst part. While
you’re working so hard to acquire
and protect all that stuff,
you could die unexpectedly. You
might die today. You might die
tomorrow. Maybe you won’t
die for another 70 years. Maybe
your consciousness will be
transferred into an android body
a few decades from now, but you
could still be destroyed in an
accident, even if you make a
backup of yourself. At least in the
present, you ’re still vulnerable.
Death happens to people
every day. 150,000+ people died
from the quake and tsunami in
Southeast Asia. How many
of them knew at the beginning of
December 2004 that they only had
a few weeks left to live?
And look what happened to all the
stuff those people acquired —
destroyed. Fisherman or
tourist — it doesn’t matter. We all
end up the same way.
So what is the point of a life
dedicated to the acquisition and
protection of stuff? All of your
money and possessions can be
taken away from you by forces
outside your control. No
matter how many asset protection
techniques you apply, you can
never guarantee full
security of your stuff. It ’s
perpetually vulnerable. There can
be no true security then in a life
based on the acquisition and
protection of stuff.
So what have you got to lose? What
are you truly risking if you go
after your dreams? If your
current lifestyle is unfulfilling,
then you ’re starting broke, no
matter how much money you
have. It doesn’t matter if you start
with $0 or $1 million. You have
nothing to lose either way.
Money and material assets are just
resources to use while you’re here
— you can’t take
them with you. You’re only a
temporary steward of the money
and possessions that pass
through your life. So when you
risk money, you don’t risk
anything of any enduring value.
Earn money, lose money, invest
money. But don’t make material
objects more important
than your own fulfillment and
happiness.
If you’re sitting behind a desk
working at a job you hate in order
to protect your current
lifestyle, you are protecting
nothing. Isn’t there a part of you,
deep inside, that wants to just
walk away from all of that junk
and start really living? Can you
feel how empty and hollow
your days are, how devoid of
meaning? Have you forgotten what
it ’s like to really live a day
that fulfills you deeply as a
human being? Look around your
home at all your stuff.
Recognize that in the long run, it
will all eventually end up as dust.
None of it will endure. It’s
all temporary. Your house will
eventually crumble. Your car will
wind up in a junkyard. You
cannot permanently keep any of
this stuff. Eventually you ’re going
to lose it all. Or it will lose
you.
So what kind of life is that — one
that’s dedicated to the guarding of
dust? Is that what you
want your life to be about? If you
feel there’s any purpose to your
existence as a human
being, then is this it?
Life is just too precious to waste. If
you are spending your days
working at a job that isn’t
deeply fulfilling to you, then
you’re spending your days
guarding dust. There’s no real
value
there. Stuff cannot fulfill you.
Ultimately it will only distract you
from living on purpose.
What does it mean to really live?
Deep down, you already have a
sense of the direction
where this answer lies for you.
Ultimately, it ’s a choice. You’re
totally free to live the kind of
life you want. But you’ll know
you’re really living when you
would live pretty much the same
way even if you knew you only
had 18 months left. If you would
make some big changes in
your life upon learning that you
only had 18 months to live, then
why not make those
changes now? Someone reading
this blog entry probably has less
than 18 months to live.
Maybe it ’s you.
Live for what is real to you. Live
for what truly matters to you.
What matters to me — what is real
to me — is inspiring and helping
people. Directly or
indirectly, whenever I’m able to
help someone solve a really tough
problem or to motivate
someone to finally push past a big
obstacle, that is something I find
tremendously fulfilling.
And the fulfillment I get from
doing this is so great that it
trumps all the external stuff. It
doesn ’t matter how much money I
make. It doesn’t matter if people
reject my ideas or poke
fun at what I enjoy doing. This
blog entry may be read by over
1000 people, but it may be
such that the ideas within are only
able to help one person in a very
small way. The other
999 may conclude I ’m nuts and
unsubscribe. And that’s fine. It’s
that one person I’m writing
for.
But at the same time, starting
from the point of spending each
day doing something that
fulfills me, I ’m building this work
into a business that can support
and sustain me and my
family. This will ultimately
include paid speaking
engagements, and information
products
like books and audio programs. So I
’m starting with doing what I love
and building it into a
source of income. The more money
the business generates, the more
people I’m ultimately
able to reach. So making money is
aligned with my own personal
fulfillment — they aren’t at
odds with each other. If you do
what you love, then you can surely
find a way to turn it into an
income stream — then the more
money you make, the more you
expand your capacity to
continue doing what you love in
bigger and bigger ways.
Taking what you love to do and
turning it into a source of income,
either as an employee or
an entrepreneur, seems hard to
resist. If you ’re going to spend so
much time working to
make money, why not make that
money in the pursuit of your
dreams instead of in the
protection of dust?
What does your current to do list
look like? Is it filled with tasks
that aren’t even real to you?
Are you typing stuff that doesn’t
matter, going to soulless meetings,
shuffling papers and
filling out forms to appease
computers, while sitting in a
Dilbert-style cage all day? Why do
you continue to choose that life
each day? You ’re always free to
stop at any time. You make
the rules.
What percentage of the tasks on
your to do list will fulfill you
deeply to do them? What kind of
to do list would be real to you?
What items might it contain?
Compose a new piece of

odds with each other. If you do
what you love, then you can surely
find a way to turn it into an
income stream — then the more
money you make, the more you
expand your capacity to
continue doing what you love in
bigger and bigger ways.
Taking what you love to do and
turning it into a source of income,
either as an employee or
an entrepreneur, seems hard to
resist. If you ’re going to spend so
much time working to
make money, why not make that
money in the pursuit of your
dreams instead of in the
protection of dust?
What does your current to do list
look like? Is it filled with tasks
that aren’t even real to you?
Are you typing stuff that doesn’t
matter, going to soulless meetings,
shuffling papers and
filling out forms to appease
computers, while sitting in a
Dilbert-style cage all day? Why do
you continue to choose that life
each day? You ’re always free to
stop at any time. You make
the rules.
What percentage of the tasks on
your to do list will fulfill you
deeply to do them? What kind of
to do list would be real to you?
What items might it contain?

Tips For Choosing The Best Stockbroker

Choosing a stock broker can
be an annoying task. While
they all seem the same, there
are differences in
commission rates that you
should be aware of.
Depending on the type of
investor you are, you may end
up paying too many fees
depending on the broker you
choose. Here are some tips
for choosing the best stock
broker, depending on the type
of investor you are.
1. Casual investor. If you are
casual investor with a
moderate amount of capital
($200k or less), then chances
are most of your money is in
ETFs or index funds. In this case,
a discount broker is fine. You
will rarely make many trades
and you do not need much
advice since you are just
investing in standard, safe
investments.
A brokerage like TD Ameritrade
is good for you since they have
$9.99 trades.
2. Frequent trader. If you are a
chartist, then finding a broker
with low fees is a very high
priority. Most discount brokers
will give discounts to people
who trade frequently. One
example is E-trade. Another site
like Interactive Brokers might
be good for you too. Be careful
with this sort of investment
style, as fees may gobble up all
of your profits!
3. High net worth investor. If
you have $1 million+ in the
stock market, then chances are
you
can get a discount on how
much you pay per trade. This is
especially the case with the
established, big firms such as
Fidelity. Fidelity offers $8 trades
to those with $1 million+ in
their Fidelity accounts.
4. Short seller. If you plan on
selling many stocks short, you
need a broker that has access
to these shares so that you can
short them. Most of these
brokerages will be able to short
mid and large caps for you, but
many do not have access to a
large percentage of the small
cap stocks. Interactive Brokers
might be the best broker for
short sellers.

The Power of Now

There is a vast difference
between being "happy" and
finding a genuine inner peace
that "passes all
understanding" to quote the
book. Happiness is often
confused for inner peace. The
two are not the same.
One can be having a miserable
experience and still be at the
core "at peace." You can be
suffering through
the loss of a loved one, career,
belief or be in a health crisis an
still have an inner peace. When
you meet
these unusual people, you
remember them. The bottom
line is tied directly to how one
graciously accepts
what is as opposed to
demanding life be some other
way for happiness to be.
Happiness is that shallow
and temporary fix one gets
from stuff, position and
comfort, while peace is that
deep ability to not define the
real self by such elusive
qualities. Inner peace is the
ability to say "is that so" when
life does what it does
and defeat the drama queen in
all of us with presence.
Is it Good, or is it Bad?
I have a saying "It’s not good,
it’s not bad. It just is." on the
wall in my workspace and
many clients
comment on it. They like it even
thought they can’t quite say
why they like it. I think the
reason is that down
deep, we all know that one
can’t judge how something
works out no matter how it
seems at the moment.
A client knocked it off the wall
accidentally and cracked the
glass. She brought it out to me
in tears and
said she was so very sorry. I
said read it
I told her she made it even
more perfect a truth than
before by breaking the glass. I
thanked her for how
good the crack looked going all
the way through the saying.
She smiled and said "I get it but
Dennis, you
ain ’t right." I hung it back up
and now clients think the crack
was deliberate for effect.
Who’s to say what is good or
bad? So often what seems so
good turns out to make a
miserable
experience. What seems so bad
turns into the greatest teacher
and opportunity. Doors open to
better ways
of being or an opportunity that
never would have come any
other way. Bad stomach
cramps and a morning
in the bathroom after an
anniversary dinner the night
before, gone bad, did , in fact,
keep one business
man from making it into work
exactly where the first plane hit
on 9/11. For him what ’s bad
certainly was
good.
A "bad" experience can force
one to let go of illusions,
falsehoods and wrong concepts
that will not serve
one ’s life experience. A "bad"
experience can cause one to
become more real, more
humble, more
compassionate and to possess
an understanding . A bad
experience, when viewed from
the ego which is
merely the mind ’s false sense
of the self can keep one frozen
in time, bitter, angry and
consumed with
changing the unchangeable
past. The ego is that
unconscious and running mind
that views itself as
unique and separate from
everything and everyone else.
The ego views everyone and
everything as a
potential threat to itself and
can only preserve itself with
control, power, greed and
attack. Ego runs and
ruins organizations and sends
governments off to commit
genocide on those perceived as
"them." All
conflict is a battle of egos, and
the need to be right. Give up
the need to be right and you
will have arrived at
a state few attain to

14 wayz 2 supercharge ur brain

Have you ever felt exasperated
when you bumped into
someone at the store but
absolutely couldn't remember
their name? Sure, it happens to
all of us.
Despite being the strongest
computer on the planet, our
brains do lapse. It's hard to
blame them really. As humans,
we spend much of or existence
stuffing our brains with
stuff. Some stuff is worthless,
some of it's meaningful,
some of it, well, it's just stuff
and there is an endless
amount of it.
No matter how powerful our
brains are, they need
recuperation time, to be kept in
shape, and even an
occasional charge. Think of it as
a tune up for your brain.
Skipping brain maintenance is
as silly as the person
wandering the parking garage
because they forgot where
they parked. Is that you? Are
you that person? Sure. We all
are at some point. No worries,
there is hope.
Now I am not a brain surgeon
and I am not going to
suggest you do anything
surgical or dangerous. I am
however an astute student of
human behavior, so I always
look for simple ways to super
charge my brain.
Here are some things you can
begin doing as soon as
today to begin the great brain
tune up.
1. Eat Almonds
Almond is believed to improve
memory. If a
combination of almond oil and
milk is taken together
before going to bed or after
getting up at morning, it
strengthens our memory
power. Almond milk is
prepared by crushing the
almonds without the outer
cover and adding water and
sugar to it.
2. Drink Apple Juice
Research from the University of
Massachusetts Lowell (UML)
indicates that apple juice
increases the production
of the essential
neurotransmitter acetylcholine
in the brain, resulting in an
increased memory power.
3. Sleep well
Research indicates that the
long-term memory is
consolidated during sleep by
replaying the images of the
experiences of the day. These
repeated playbacks program
the subconscious mind to store
these images and
other related information.
4. Enjoy simple Pleasures
Stress drains our brainpower. A
stress-ridden mind consumes
much of our memory resources
to leave us with a
feeble mind. Make a habit to
engage yourself in few simple
pleasures everyday to dissolve
stress from your mind.
Some of these simple pleasures
are good for your mind, body
and soul.
Enjoy music you love
Play with your children
Hug a stranger
Appreciate others
Run few miles a day, bike or
swim
Start a blog
Take a yoga class or Total
Wellness routine
5. Fast for a day
Fasting cleans and detoxifies
our body. It is known fact that
heavy food not only causes
stress on our digestive
system but also drains our
brainpower. Fasting relieves
toxic emotions such as anger,
grief, worry, and fears -
before they accumulate and
cause disease. By cleansing
toxic emotions, fasting
strengthens metal clarity with
increases memory,
concentration, creativity and
insight.
6. Exercise your mind
Just as physical exercise is
essential for a strong body,
mental exercise is equally
essential for a sharp and agile
mind. Have you noticed that
children have far superior
brainpower than an adult does?
Children have playful
minds. A playful mind exhibits
superior memory power.
Engage in some of the activities
that require your mind to
remain active and playful.
Play scrabble or crossword
puzzle
Volunteer
Interact with others
Start a new hobby such as
blogging, reading, painting, bird
watching
Learn new skill or a language
7. Practice Yoga or Meditation
Yoga or Meditation relives
stress. Stress is a known
memory buster. With less
stress, lower blood pressure,
slower respiration, slower
metabolism, and released
muscle tension follows. All of
these factors contribute
significantly towards increases
in our brainpower.
8. Reduce Sugar intake
Sugar is a non-food. It’s a form
of carbohydrate that offers
illusionary energy, only to
cause a downhill slump once
the initial burst has been worn
off. Excess intake of sugar
results in neurotic symptoms.
Excess sugar is known to
cause claustrophobia, memory
loss and other neurotic
disorders. Eat food without
adding sugar. Stay away from
sweet drinks or excess
consumption of caffeine with
sugar.
9. Eat whole wheat
The whole wheat germs
contain lecithin. Lecithin helps
ease the problem of the
hardening of the arteries,
which
often impairs brain functioning.
10. Eat a light meal in the night
A heavy meal at night causes
tossing and turning and a
prolonged emotional stress
while at sleep. It’s wise to
eat heavy meal during the day
when our body is in motion to
consume the heavy in-take.
Eating a light meal with
some fruits allows us to sleep
well. A good night sleep
strengthens our brainpower.
11. Develop imagination
Greeks mastered the principle
of imagination and association
to memorize everything. This
technique requires
one to develop a vivid and
colorful imagination that can be
linked to a known object. If you
involve all your senses -
touching, feeling, smelling,
hearing and seeing in the
imagination process, you can
remember greater details of
the event.
12. Sex
Our sexual imagination often
empowers our ability to
daydream, which strengthens
our brainpower with greater
imagination, visualization and
association.
13. Control your temper
Bleached food, excess of starch
or excess of white bread can
lead to nerve grating effect.
This results in a violent
and some time depressive
behavior. Eat fresh vegetables.
Drink lots of water and
meditate or practice yoga to
relieve these toxic emotions of
temper and violent mood
swings.
14. Take Vitamin B-complex
Vitamin B-complex strengthens
memory power. Eat food and
vegetables high in Vitamin B-
complex. Stay away
from the starch food or white
bread, which depletes the
Vitamin B-complex necessary
for a healthy mind.

MARKETING IDEAS
---------------------------------------
WHO ARE MY CUSTOMERS?
Your customers are those
people in your locality that
engage in interpersonal
communication throughGSM
and those carrying on GSM
related business. In this
category are the GSM call
centers, road-side recharge
card vendors and individuals.
You can decide to sell to any of
these customers who are
retailers leaving certain
reasonable profit margin for
them as well while you
discharge your products as fast
as possible to replenish your
stock on time.
Conversely, you may also sell
directly to final consumers so as
to double your gains-you will be
making both profits of a sub-
dealer and a retailer. The only
disadvantage of limiting
yourself to sell directly to the
final consumers is that your
stock may not move fast even
though the profit is doubled.
HOW DO I SELL MY PRODUCTS?
It may bother you as an
entrepreneur how to sell your
products and make good
profits. Do not have the fear
that your are new in the
business and may be denied
good patronage. All you need
do is to make a
thorough market survey of your
area. Make a list of the sub
dealers that sell at cheapest
rate to the GSM call centers
around you. Then, try to
reasonably cut your price and
wait for the result. You will
discover that people tend to
walk a few kilometers from
their vicinity to patronize a
dealer in another locality
simply because of a reduction
in price which is not even more
than 50 kobo.
For example, if the cheapest
MTN N100, in your area goes
for N96, you may sell for
N95.50 and beat the other
dealers (your competitors).
Always remember however
that no matter the number of
your competitors you still will
have
your fair share of the market.
This is a principle that is driven
by creativity and good market
strategy.
Your customers will come to
you.
In addition to this you may
adopt the family sales
technique. This involves every
member of the same household
having some vouchers with
them at any point in time and is
ready to make sales at the
slightest possible chance to do
so. This method has been
tested and the results, very
positive. Selling at both
wholesale and retail price can
bring in extra earnings and
increase profit margin. A third
method is the let others do the
sales method. In this method,
you involve people who may
not be ordinarily interested in
this business by offering
vouchers to them on credits
and with profits. For instance
Mrs. A may not be into the sale
of voucher, may be a cyber café
owner or business center
agent.. You approach
Mrs. A and offer her some cards
say 10 of each units of MTN
100, Celtel 100 and Glo 100 at
the rate of say N98.. She makes
N2 on each while you make N5
and sell faster.. It is the
cumulative effect of this that
will count.
You can sit down and study
your environment properly; you
will discover other techniques
that will work for you. Always
bear in mind that no matter the
number of your competitors,
you still will have your fair
share of the market!
Your major dealer is also in the
best position on sell to you
recharge cards at reduced
costs. Running this together
with voucher printing will no
doubt increase your
profitability level.

101 way 2 live life 2 d fullest

1. Live every day on a fresh
new start. Don’t be held back
by what happened yesterday,
the day before, the week
before, the year before, and so
on.
Image ©
2. Be true to who you are. Stop
trying to please other people or
be someone else. It’s better to
be an original version of
yourself than an exact
duplicate of someone else.
3. Quit complaining. Don’t be
like the howling dog, always
howling and never doing
anything. Stop complaining
about your problems and work
on them instead.
4. Be proactive. Stop waiting for
others around you to do
something and take action
yourself instead.
5. Rather than think “what if”,
think “next time”. Don’t think
about things you can’t change
(namely what has happened
and thoughts of other people)
or unhappy things
because these are
disempowering. Instead focus
on the things you can action
upon. That’s the most
constructive thing you can do in
any situation.
6. Focus on WHAT vs. How.
Focus on WHAT you want first,
before you think about HOW to
do it. Anything is possible, as
long as you set your mind,
heart and soul to it.
7. Create your own
opportunities. You can wait for
opportunities to drop in life. Or,
you can go out there and
create your own opportunities.
The latter is definite and much
more
empowering.
8. Live more consciously each
day. Stop sleepwalking through
life. Your life is something to be
experienced, not coasted
through.
9. Be committed to your
growth. In the Map of
Consciousness, there are 17
levels of consciousness – from
Shame to Enlightenment. The
higher level of consciousness
you
are in, the richer your life
experience. Achieving higher
consciousness comes from your
commitment to growth.
10. Know your inner self. This
means knowing who you are
and what you represent. Be
clear of your personal identity.
Image ©
11. Discover your real life
purpose. Set the mission
statement for your life; one
that will drive you to life your
life to the fullest.
12. Live in alignment with your
purpose. What can you start
doing immediately that will let
you live 100% in alignment
with your purpose? How can
you live true to your purpose
within every context/situation/
environment you are in, every
second of the day?
13. Set your life
commandments. Define your
personal commandments to
live your best life. What adages
and principles do you want to
follow in your life?
14. Discover your values. Values
are the essence of what makes
you, you. Read article #11:
Discover Your Values in The
Personal Excellence Book on
the importance of values,
my values and how you can
create your own.
15. Hold yourself to the highest
conduct. Every one of us have
our own set of ethics, principles
and moral codes. Live true to
them every day. Also, live in full
alignment with your
purpose (#11), commandments
(#13) and values (#14).
16. Design your ideal life. What
is your ideal life? Design it. First,
assess your life at the moment
via the life wheel. Then, ask
yourself what it takes to live a
10/10 life (in all 10
areas – career, health, love,
social, etc…). What is the life
that will make you the best
person you can ever be? Set
your BHAGs – big, hairy and
audacious goals! There are no
limits in life – only those you set
for yourself!
17. Stop putting life on hold.
Are you putting any parts of
your life on hold? What is one
area of your life you have been
putting off/avoiding/denying?
Uncover it and start working
on it.
18. Create your life handbook.
Your life handbook is your life-
long personal manual to live
your best life – from your
mission statement, your values,
your long-term goals, short-
term goals, personal strengths,
blind spots to address, plans,
among others. Create your
book first then build on from
there.
19. Set your goals. After you
design your ideal life, set your
5-year, 3-year and 1-year goals.
The more specific your goals,
the better! Read the 10
principles on how to get
winning
goals.
Image ©
20. Take action on your goals
and dreams. Create an action
plan with your strategy, plan
and immediate next steps.
ESPER: 7-part Goal Achievement
series is a great tool to get
you started.
21. Create your bucket list, i.e.
things to do before you die.
Then, get out to achieve them.
22. Don’t do things for the sake
of doing them. Always evaluate
what you’re doing and only do
it if there is meaning behind
them. Don’t be afraid to quit
the things that don’t
serve your path.
23. Do the things you love,
because life is too precious to
spend it doing anything else. If
you don’t enjoy something,
then don’t do it. Spend your
time and energy on things that
bring you fulfillment and
happiness.
24. Discover your passion in life.
What sets you on fire? Go out
there (and explore inward) to
know what you love to do.
25. Make your passion a full-
fledged career. Then, start
pursuing it. Stop working in a
job you are passionless
towards. Quit your job when
you are ready to do it full-time.
26. Turn your passion into a
huge success. Turn your passion
into a multi-million dollar
business. Better yet, make it a
multi-billion dollar one.
27. Learn from criticism. Be
open to criticism but don’t be
affected by it. Criticism is meant
to help you be a better person.
Learn from it.
28. Be positive. Is the glass half
empty or half full? How about
neither? It’s actually all-full –
the bottom half is water, the
top half is air. It’s all a matter
of perception. Take on
empowering perceptions, not
those that bind you. If you can
see the positive sides of every
thing, you’ll be able to live a
much richer life than others.
Image ©
29. Do unto others what you
would like others to do unto
you. The law of reciprocity –
Golden Rule
30. Don’t complain or
badmouth about other people.
31. Be empathetic. If everyone
only see life from his/her own
perspective, we’ll forever be
close-minded and insular. See
things from others’ shoes.
32. Be a compassionate person.
Show compassion and kindness
to everyone around you
33. Develop 100% self-belief.
Believe in yourself and your
abilities. If you don’t believe in
yourself, how can you expect
others to believe in you?
34. Let go of unhappy past. This
means past grievances,
heartbreaks, sadness,
disappointments, etc.
35. Forgive those who may
have done you wrong in the
past. “To forgive is to set a
prisoner free and realize it was
you.” – Lewis B. Smedes
36. Let go of attachments.
Don’t fixate yourself with a
certain status, fame, wealth or
material possessions. These are
impermanent and will
ultimately disappear one day
when
you die. Focus on growing and
living life to the fullest instead.
37. Let go of relationships that
do not serve you. That means
negative people, dishonest
people, people who don’t
respect you, people who make
you feel bad about yourself
and relationships that prevent
you from growing.
38. Spend more time with
people who enable you. Hang
out with people who you
compatible with, like-minded
people, people who are
positive, successful, strong
achievers and
positive for your growth. You
are after all the average of the
5 people you spend the most
time with.
Image ©
39. Build genuine, authentic
connections with people
around you – strangers, friends,
family, colleagues, business
partners, customers/clients,
etc. Spend more time to know
them better and foster
stronger connections.
40. Connect with an old friend.
There is no end to the number
of friends you can have. Reach
out to people from the past.
41. Do a kind deed a day. What
is something you can do today
that will make the world a
better place? Go and do it.
42. Help other people who are
in need. Voluntarism is one
outlet. You can also start with
your friends and family.
43. Help people when they
least expect it, without reason.
You don’t need any reason to
help others. Do it because you
want to. Share the love with
everyone.
44. Go dating (if you’re single).
45. Fall in love ♥
46. Review your life. Set a
weekly review session to
assess how you are doing for
your goals and your life. Review
your purpose once every 3-6
months too so you know you’re
on the right path.
47. Overcome procrastination.
Procrastination is a huge waste
of your time (and your life). Get
rid of it once and for all.
48. 30 minutes a day. Set aside
at least 30 minutes every day
to work on a quadrant 2 goal
that, when you achieve it, will
bring about the biggest source
of fulfillment and
happiness in your life
49. Get out there and make
new friends – whether in your
workplace, online, friends’
friends, social groups, etc.
50. Be your advisor (from the
future). Imagine you’re the
future you, 5 years later. How
would you advise yourself?
Write it down. Now, apply
them. Check out a related
article #17:
Future Prediction Exercise in
The Personal Excellence Book,
which is about predicting your
future then learning from it.
51. Write a letter to your future
self. Actually, write 3 letters –
for yourself in 1, 3 and 5 years.
The longer the letters, the
better. Envision how you’ll be
like in the future. Make each
letter a minimum 2 pages long.
Now, seal them and put them
in a safe place. Set it in your
calendar so you’ll know to open
them when it’s time. This will
inspire you to work
your hardest and achieve your
maximum results in the time
period.
Image ©
52. Declutter. Start from your
computer, then your table, your
room, your bag/wallet, and
your home. The more you
throw the unwanted and old
stuff away, the more room
you’re
creating for new things to
enter.
53. Keep learning. There is
something to learn from
everything you see, hear and
experience. This includes your
mistakes and past misshaps (if
any). Learn to interpret each
event objectively. Focus on
what you can learn from it so
you can apply them moving
forward.
54. Keep developing yourself.
Equip yourself with a huge
breadth of knowledge. Learn
different skills, pick up different
hobbies, study different fields.
55. Keep upgrading yourself.
Equip yourself with a huge
depth of knowledge. While you
can usually only level up to 99
in video games, in real life you
can level up to infinity. Go for
further studies if need be.
Develop your skills. Level up.
Build your >10,000 hours in
each skill.
56. Try new things. What’s
something you’d normally not
do? Get out of your comfort
zone try something different. It
can be something simple like
taking a new bus route, trying a
new food item, picking up a
new hobby, or something
bigger like studying a different
field, picking a new skill,
traveling to a country you’ll
never visit, etc. You set your
own
limits.
57. Get yourself out there. This
applies for everything. (a) Get
out there geographically. Go
out, travel and explore the
world. Set sail into the sea. Go
backpacking by yourself and
visit as many countries as
possible. Get on a road trip and
visit the different places that
come out. (B) Get out there
situationally. Stop sticking to
routines and comfort zones.
Try something different. (c) Get
out there in life. Stop watching
TV and living vicariously
through the TV characters. Go
and live the life of your dreams.
58. Be the absolute best in
what you do. Go for the #1
position in what you do. If you
want to spend your time doing
something, you might as well
be the best in it. Strive for the
best – you don’t deserve
anything lesser than that.
59. Don’t settle. In the same
lines as #58, don’t settle for
less. Don’t settle for someone
you don’t like as your partner.
Don’t settle for a job you don’t
friends who make you feel like
a lesser person (#37). Don’t
settle for a weight you are
unhappy with. Go for what you
really want.
60. Stretch yourself. What are
you doing now? How can you
achieve more? Set bigger goals.
Explore your limits and break
them.
61. Embrace new ideas. Don’t
mentally limit yourself; Let your
mind be a breeding ground for
new ideas. Read: 25
Brainstorming Techniques.
Image ©
62. Create your inspirational
haven. Turn your room into a
place you love. Do the same for
your work desk. Get rid of
things that make you
unproductive. Surround it with
things
that inspire you and trigger you
to action. Read more: How To
Create An Inspiring Room
63. Behave as your ideal self
will. All of us have an ideal
vision of who we want to be.
How is your ideal self like? How
can you start to be that ideal
self now?
64. Set your role models in life.
With role models, you become
much better than you can be by
yourself. I personally am
inspired by Tyra Banks (for her
passion for helping
women build their self-esteem
and changing notions of
beauty), Ivanka Trump (for her
success, intellect and beauty),
Donald Trump (for his success
and drive in life), Oprah
(for being who she is), Lady
Gaga (for her talent and not
being afraid to be different),
and many more. Seeing them
and what they do reminds me
of what I can be and what I
can do, so they drive me on to
greater heights.
65. Get mentors and/or
coaches. There’s no faster way
to improve than to have
someone work with you on
your goals. Not only will they
drive you to achieve more for
yourself,
they’ll also share with you
important advice which you can
use to create even more
success for yourself. Many of my
clients approach me to coach
them and the net result:
they achieve significantly more
progress and results in their life
than if they had worked alone.
66. Uncover your blind spots.
The more you uncover, the
more you grow, the better you
become.
67. Increase your
consciousness. The more
conscious you are, the more
evolved you become.
68. Ask for feedback. As much
as we try to uncover our blind
spots (#66), there will be areas
we cannot identify. Asking for
feedback gives us an additional
perspective. Some
people to approach will be
friends, family, colleagues,
boss, or even acquaintances,
since they will have no preset
bias and can give their
feedback objectively.
69. Generate passive income.
Create passive income streams
so your income is not tied to
the time you spend on your
work. Of course you’ll still
continue to work, but only
because you want to and not
because you have to.
70. Help others live their best
lives. There is no better way to
grow than to help others grow.
Ultimately, the world is one.
We are all in this together.
71. Get married / Start your
family / Have kids!
72. Improve the world. There
are many things in the world
that needs your attention and
help. Poverty. Disaster
recovery. Illiteracy. Children in
need. Depleting rainforests.
Animal rescue. Endangered
species. How can you do your
part?
Image ©
73. Spearhead a humanitarian
cause/organization you are
passionate about.
74. Give more value than you
receive. There is so much
unspeakable joy that comes
from giving. And when you
keep giving, you’ll find that you
actually receive a lot more in
return, in spades.
75. Be big picture focus. You can
either set your eyes on the big
things or get hung up by the
nitty gritty details. The former
will help you get a lot more out
of life than the latter.
Focus on the big rocks in life
and put first things first
(Quadrant 2 tasks). Practice the
80/20 rule – focus on the 20%
things that give you the 80%
fulfillment in life.
76. Be clear of your end
objective. What is the end goal
you seek? Is what you’re doing
bringing you there? If not, put it
aside. As long as you keep
taking on things that meets
your end goal, you’ll eventually
reach there.
77. Go the 80/20 route. For
every goal you have, there are
different paths to achieve it.
Pick out the 80/20 path, i.e. the
most effective path that brings
you there the fastest with least
amount of effort.
78. Prioritize (80/20 actions). As
you embark on the 80/20 path
for your goals, focus on the
important tasks and cut out the
less important ones. That
means do the 20% actions
that give you the 80% results.
79. Live in the moment. Are
your thoughts wandering
around all the time? Calm your
mind down. Be present. The
only time you’re ever living is in
this moment. Meditation helps
to remove mental clutter.
80. Relish in the little moments.
Snuggling under warm covers
on a rainy day. Ice cream on a
hot day. A kiss with your loved
one. Being with your best
friend. A walk by the park.
The breeze on your face. Quiet,
alone time. Watching the sun
rise/set. Soak in all these little
moments of life. They are what
make up your life.
81. Take a break. Being the
best also requires you to take
breaks when needed. Make
sure you rest when needed.
Doing so lets you walk the
longer mile ahead.
82. Stop wanting things a
certain way. I wrote a 3-part
series before on the downsides
of perfectionism and how to
overcome them. Be firm on
your end goals and your ideals,
but let go of the fixation that
things have to be a certain
way. You’ll realize it’s by doing
that that you achieve what you
want.
Image ©
83. Focus on creation.
84. Don’t criticize or judge
others. Respect others for who
they are.
85. The only person you can
change is yourself. Stop
expecting others to behave in a
certain way. Rather than
demand that others around you
change, focus on changing
yourself. You’ll be happier and
live a more fulfilling life this
way.
86. Embrace gratitude. Be
grateful for everything you
have today, and everything you
will get in the future.
87. Express gratitude. Let the
people who’ve touched you
know of your gratitude towards
them. You’ll be surprised what
a little act like this can do. If
you don’t tell them, they’ll
never know.
88. Let loose and have fun. Sing
at the top of your lungs. Dance
in the rain :D. Run barefoot and
feel the ground underneath
your feet. Release of your self-
imposed shackles and
be free :D.
89. Get into nature. Many of us
live in concrete jungles. Soak in
the beauty of nature.
90. You have a choice.
Recognize you always have a
choice in how to live your life.
91. Laugh more :D. Are you
reading this with a straight
face? Smile and have fun :D.
92. Embrace change. The only
thing that’s constant is change.
Change means growth. Rather
than resist change, learn to
versatile such that you can
make the best out of the
changes that come. In fact,
become an agent of change.
93. Be more risk-inclined. Don’t
be afraid to take risks. The
bigger your risks, the bigger
your return.
94. Embrace mistakes. The
more mistakes you make, the
faster you learn. Make sure to
draw lessons so you can build
on them. (#53)
95. Embrace disappointments.
Many people try to avoid
feeling disappointed. They
develop a resistant relationship
with disappointment. However,
disappointment is part and
parcel of being human – it
reflects your real passions.
Don’t resist it – instead,
embrace it. Understand it, then
channel into it to create more
in life. Read: How To Overcome
Disappointment (4-part series)
96. Challenge your fears. All of
us have fears. Fear of
uncertainty, fear of public
speaking, fear of risk… All our
fears keep us in the same
position and prevent us from
growing.
Rather than avoid your fears,
recognize they are the compass
for growth. Address and
overcome them. Read: How To
Overcome Fear (3-Part Series).
97. Maximize your mind, body,
heart and soul. Living your best
life requires you to maximize
yourself mentally, physically,
emotionally and spiritually. If
you’re highly successful,
very materially abundant, have
a big circle of friends, very
spiritually aware but you
neglect your physical health,
that’s not living your life to the
fullest. The same for other
scenarios where a part of you is
blocked off. Maximize all 4
aspects of you.
98. Be your best self. Essentially
all the articles here at The
Personal Excellence Blog are
about being your best self and
achieving your highest
potential. It’s only through
being
the best we can be that we live
our life to the fullest. This is
why the motto of the site is “Be
your best self, Live your best
life“.
99. Love yourself. You are the
person you have to live with for
the rest with your life. Treasure
and love yourself.
00. Love others. Be grateful for
all the people around you
because they help you to grow.
They enrich your life
experience. Without them, your
life would not have been the
same.
01. Last but not least: Love life.
I always find living to be a
fascinating experience. How
we’re all on earth, with millions
of species, 30,000 different life
forms, over 7 billion people,
and all thriving in its own way,
existing, co-existing and in co-
creation mode. There’s so much
we don’t know out there, so
much to be experienced in life,
that it’s just
wonderful.
